You have probably read about the armour of God mentioned in Ephesians 6 :10 to 18. It states that as believers, we are in a kind of spiritual battle. Therefore, we are to put on the whole armour of God to "stand firm against all strategies of the devil"
But what exactly is an armour of God and why do we have to wear it?

The apostle Paul was referring to the armour and battle dress of the first century Roman soldier when he wrote about the armour of God. He was in prison at the time of writing of
Ephesians and so saw this armour on a day-to-day basis.
Ephesians 6:14-17 lists six pieces of the armour of God:
Belt of truth.
Breastplate of righteousness.
Shoes of the gospel of peace.
Shield of faith.
Helmet of salvation.
Sword of the Spirit.
God provides these six aspects of the Christian life, plus prayer (verse 18), to strengthen and protect us and ultimately help us to triumph in our spiritual battles
The Church, and each of us individually, moves forward on our knees. Praying reminds us of the battles, reminds us of the source of our strength and defence, and reminds God that we
are fully committed to following him as obedient and faithful soldiers and servants.
“Christ himself is the Christian's armoury. When he puts on Christ, he is then completely armed from head to foot."
- John Bunyan
